The central plot explores the city of Melbourne’s newly introduced tolling system – CityLink. Within this social context the new tolling system caused a great deal of confusion for many consumers, who were faced with a relative alien top-up credit system.

This short work (approximately 20 minutes), centralised around the character Ruby (Palmer), a pensioner who travels from Keilor by taxi to the Crown casino to see Patty Newton live in concert.

Ruby is convinced by her taxi driver to purchase an E-tag for the journey, and inncorectly advised that any remaining top-up credits could be used in exchange for pokie credits at the casino. After taking in the Patty Newton show, Ruby sets out to have a ‘poke’, and is then apprehended by Crown security staff (Choler and Bolton), who interrogate her for attempting to be a scam-artist and for rorting the system – using toll credits, in exchange for pokie credits.

The score was improvised and performed lived by Motsamai (Hullick), using opened grand piano and amplification.
